The people behind the scenes here at Saving Rain LLC are the Russell family. We are a family of farmers, landscapers, gardeners, and a horticulturist. Bill has been operating Russell’s Farm Market for over 30 years. The farm market started out with strawberry picking every spring, a long list of vegetables all summer and into the pumpkin season every fall. About 16 years ago I joined Bill in his ventures and with the help of my daughter, we have expanded into a full nursery; including trees, shrubs, perennial plants, and annual plants. Somewhere along the line we added a bakery here at the farm, too, and my sister bakes the best pies in town!! The farm is still run by the family, our children and neighborhood kids. If you are ever in central Wisconsin, stop by Russell’s Farm Market and say “Hi”.

Working closely with plants and vegetables, and having to water, water, water, here in the Central Sands area makes us very aware of the importance of utilizing the precious water mother nature gives us. We have many wonderful lakes in Wisconsin and hopefully everyone is aware of what run-off is doing to them. We also notice that the natural rainwater is so good for our plants. My mission statement is “Make It Last”.

So you can see, we’re coming up with new ideas all the time. Well, this idea actually started with my son, Scott Gear, and his business you can check out at www.second-rain.com. He has been doing landscaping for many years and trying to incorporate rain barrels into landscapes, and finally found a great way to do that. That led to the Saving Rain diverter box.
